Home Upgrades Program receives 2026 Emerald Award

Kambo Energy Group's Home Upgrades Program has been recognized with the 2026 Emerald Award in the Energy category by the Alberta Emerald Foundation.

Kambo Energy Group's Home Upgrades Program has been recognized with the 2026 Emerald Award in the Energy category by the Alberta Emerald Foundation, which celebrates environmental excellence and leadership across Alberta.

The award recognizes a program that has grown through collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to making energy efficiency accessible to households who have historically faced barriers to participating. It also highlights what's possible when governments, utilities, funders, community organizations, and residents work together to reduce energy costs, improve home comfort, and lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Since its launch, the Home Upgrades Program has helped income-qualified households access free home energy upgrades alongside multilingual energy education and one-on-one participant support. As community needs have evolved, so has the program.

A key part of that evolution has been Kambo's partnership with The City of Calgary through which the program has expanded to include renters, multilingual workshops, DIY RetroKits, and water-saving measures, creating more opportunities for households to participate in ways that work for them.

This recognition also reflects the contributions of the many organizations that have supported the Home Upgrades Program over the years. We would like to thank:

·      Alberta Ecotrust Foundation

·      City of Edmonton

·      City of St. Albert

·      Town of Canmore

·      Town of Pincher Creek

·      ENMAX

·      Alberta Real Estate Foundation

·      Calgary Foundation

·      Suncor Energy Foundation

·      McConnell Foundation

Thank you to our Home Upgrades team, contractors, community partners, and Energy Mentors whose dedication makes this work possible every day.

Most importantly, thank you to the households who welcomed us into their homes and trusted us to be part of their energy journey. Their experiences continue to shape the program and demonstrate that climate action, affordability, and community well-being can go hand in hand.
