The City of Calgary is helping Calgarians save gas, electricity, and water with free do-it-yourself (DIY) RetroKits delivered right to your door. Each kit includes easy-to-use items like faucet aerators, outlet gaskets for draft proofing, and smart power bars at no cost to income-qualified households. RetroKits come with simple, step-by-step instructions and you should receive them within 2-3 weeks of applying.
RetroKits are available to income-qualified Calgarians — both homeowners and renters.
Eligibility is based on the number of people living in the home and the total household income (including income from anyone 18 or older who lives in the home).
RetroKits include products that you can easily install on your own to reduce your gas, electricity, and water use. Each kit comes with step-by-step instructions and the following items:

RetroKit items don’t require any structural or permanent changes to your home, so you typically do not need landlord permission. However, if you have any concerns, it is always a good idea to double check with your landlord.
